Feline Distemper Combination Vaccine

This vaccine protects against four common infectious feline diseases.  Panleukopenia, or feline distemper, is a deadly disease of kittens.  Chlamydia Calicivirus and Rhinotracheitis virus all contribute to feline upper respiratory disease ("kitty colds") and pneumonia.  This vaccine is a necessity for all cats as it protects against these common feline diseases.

Rabies Vaccine

All warm-blooded animals are susceptible to this fatal disease.  The rabies virus is also deadly to humans.  Rabies is most commonly spread via animal bites and in Minnesota rabies is found mostly in bats, skunks and raccoons.  Your cat must be vaccinated for rabies to protect it from exposure to rabid animals and to protect other animals and humans were your cat to bite them.  The Minnesota Board of Animal Health requires that non-vaccinated animals must be euthanized or quarantined for 6 months or more if they bite another pet or human.  Rabies vaccine is essential to protect your pets and loved ones.

Feline Leukemia Virus Vaccine

This is a common and highly destructive cat virus.  It is highly contagious and is found in an infected cat's saliva, urine, and feces.  It is spread mostly by cat bites or cats grooming each other.  This disease can manifest itself in many different ways, including anemia, immune system suppression, and cancer.  Affected cats can carry the disease for years without any signs and then become ill.  The death rate is high for cats which become ill with the disease.  For this reason we advocate a leukemia virus test for all cats/kittens with unknown leukemia virus status, and yearly vaccination for all cats with possible exposure, especially outdoor cats.

Feline Bordatella Vaccine

The bacteria Bordatella bronchisevtica can contribute to upper respiratory disease in cats.  It is highly contagious and very common in kennels, catteries or other environments with a lot of cats present.  This vaccine is required for cats admitted to our boarding facility.  The vaccine is given as a spray into the nasal passages.
